The Vette Vues Magazine's Corvette Chevy Expo enjoyed a new
home this year. The event was relocated to
the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas. Encompassing
just under 125,000 square feet, it showcased World-Class show cars and Major
National Vendors! Lonestar CaliperCompany sponsored the 36th annual event. The spectacular gathering's new
location offered participants easier move in and move out while spectators
enjoyed more parking and at a reduced cost.
The event has gained national attention over the years for the exceptional quality of show vehicles displayed at the exhibition. A team of expert judges rates each car entry for show quality. There are several awards, but the “Best of Show” award is the most coveted prize in the Concours. Top awards this year went to Karen Watts for Best of Show Corvette, Larry Dye won Best of Show Camaro, Donald Velazquez was presented the Best of Show Chevy, and Jerome Januhowski received the Best of Show Chevy Truck. Best of Show Display went to Gregg Enders, and People's Choice Award went to Chris Johnson.
The Concours style event had forty-four classes with Best in
Class, 2nd and 3rd as well as Judges Choice Awards. Because of the large number of outstanding
displays this year, ten Outstanding Display Awards were also presented. In addition to these awards, forty-seven
Chevrolet show cars, and their owners who received 98-100 points, received the
President's Award for their excellence.
The newest award is the Vette Vues Magazine Tri-Power Award
®. The Tri-Power Award's purpose is to
honor the Corvette that has achieved the highest degree of originality,
condition, and attention to detail. Five
